Online Survey Results

Sandra Smith

After the Orlando meeting, 45 members completed an online survey. Of interest to the Education committee was the question about the desired features to include as the website is developed. The top responses were as follows: a private membership directory, a password protected members only section, a clinic geographical directory, newsletter, links, and online registration. Sixty percent also agreed that a portion of the annual meeting should be made available on line, including a requirement of a fee for members and nonmembers to access this information.

Our new website continues to develop with the addition of 450 articles from the JACPOC newsletters on the ACPOC website resulting in an increase from 10 to 400 pages. This has brought more hits to our website, and more exposure to our organization. In the month of January 2006 the average number of visitor sessions per day was 407, with an average session length of 29 minutes. Based on the domain name of the visitors, the majority of the 12,638 sessions in January, originated in North America. Other geographical regions included Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia. A geographical map of clinics and directory remains on the website, with the goal of featuring a clinic on a rotation basis. And for those who have not yet visited, online registration is available for the May 2006 meeting hosted by the Shriners Hospital for Children in Sacramento.

The ACPOC Board of Directors hopes that the membership likes the new look of the website and the members' only section should be added soon. This section will include the membership directory as well as members grouped by profiles to extend the annual meeting's networking experience throughout the year. Be on the lookout for this profile in the mail and online. Also the year to date newsletters will be placed in this section.

Please be patient as we develop the website content. As the Education Committee chair, I urge everyone to contribute to the website to ensure the following goals can be met:

  • Provide current information to professionals and clients (families and patients)
  • Provide information for access only by members
  • Encourage membership networking
  • Update useful information to website visitors
  • Provide educational opportunities for members

Feel free to email a member of the education committee with any materials and website links that would be of interest to the ACPOC members and the children we serve.
