Why Timed Functional Tests are Undesirable

R. N. SCOTT, P ENG* AND E. R. SANDERSON, OT(C)

There is a notion in the clinical community that functional tests should be based upon performance speed. Insight derived from the perspective of human operator modelling shows, however, that timed response to a command is at best a very risky measure. The authors present both theoretical and clinical arguments for quality, rather than speed, as the preferred performance measure.
