The article entitled "Functional-Cosmetic Prosthetic Thumb," (ICIB, September 1969) by Dr. Gael R. Frank and Lester J. Sabolich of the Oklahoma City Amputee Clinic, described a prosthetic thumb successfully fitted to one of their patients. The prosthesis had been fabricated by Realastic Industries of Oakland, California.
A recent communication from Mr. R. D. Anderson of the Oakland firm included some pictures of a "work thumb" (Fig. 1 and 2 ) which differs slightly from the one used at the Oklahoma City Clinic.
Mr. Anderson also mentioned that Realastic Industries individually engineers partial hands for all types of finger and thumb losses.
