A 4 year old, Right Hernipelvectomy child was seen at The Hugh MacMillan Medical Centre Amputee Clinic. An amputation was performed for Osteogenic Sarcoma and subsequent design and fitting of a prototype modular unit was undertaken. The hip and knee units are incorporated into a 3/4" diameter pylon system. The knee unit utilizes an internal spring assist with variable adjustment capabilities. The completed prosthesis weighs approximately 3.5 lbs. with shoe. The modular units can also be adapted for the above knee (Trans Femoral) child amputee.
