The Contemporary Orthotic Management of Myelomeningocele
JAMES H. CAMPBELL AND DR. ALAN R. GURD
This presentation will review the clinical application and fitting of three differing designs of Reciprocating Gait Orthoses (RGO); The Louisiana State University R.G.O., The RGO with Linear Bearing And The RGO With Isocentric Bearing.
The three patients presented have a similar diagnosis of myelomeningocele, interestingly reside in the same household as brother and sisters thus making pathology, parental support, medical and therapeutic protocols consistent.
It is the intention of this paper to present initial findings that may determine potential protocols for each system thus enabling clinicians to prescribe the most efficient and suitable choice of components from what is becoming a more complex and expanded array.
