Cheneau-Brace for Scoliosis Treatment-Principles, Manufacture, and Individual Short-Term Results

Correction of the scoliotic spine by directed respiration of the thorax in a thoracolumbosacral orthosis is achieved by three-point support in several levels of the trunk. The principles were developed by Dr. Cheneau of France and optimized during eight seminars on the manufacture of the orthosis. Proper molding of the individually-shaped plaster model and the corset fitting allows almost unlimited thoracic respiration, while confining the corset to the trunk. For this reason the Cheneau-brace is accepted much better by most of our scoliosis patients than the Milwaukee brace.

Steps in manufacture and preliminary results were demonstrated.
