Voluntary Terminal Device in Juvenile Amputees

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the Adept voluntaryclosing terminal device in juvenile amputees. A select group of children was compared using the voluntary-closing device with a smaller group of amputees having voluntaryopening devices. This preliminary results are primarily positive subjective impressions. The longest follow-up is approximately 16 months. We anticipate supplying more children with a below-elbow prosthesis with the Adept voluntary-closing terminal device.
